The Challenge
CareChoice has over 15 nursing homes all over Ireland. In late 2019 they opened their newest home in Swords, Co. Dublin. Before they could get anywhere near capacity the global pandemic hit and they had to operate with about 40% capacity.
As per Government guidelines they had no option but to stop visitors coming in to see their families. This also means no new prospective residents or their families could come and see the brand new facility.
CareChoice gave Story Clarity a call and enquired about some location and aerial photography to replace the CGI generated images on their new Swords website. They also mentioned that they would like to chat about video options.
The Solution
We provided CareChoice with a library of images which included Exterior, Interior and Aerial photography. We also pitched the idea of doing a virtual tour of the building with Jill – who normally shows families around when they are enquiring about information.
The one thing that struck us whenever we met the staff in CareChoice Swords was the empathy showing towards the residents, but also empathy for the local area too – we really wanted to get that warm feeling across in what sometimes can be quite “dry” or “sterile” type of videos.
The Impact
CareChoice mentioned that they ran “themed Tuesdays” for the residents, things like music, arts and crafts, bingo, dancing and even ice cream trollies.
Because it was Summertime, we were able to film outside whilst following the strict Covid guidelines and we were able to capture one of their ice cream days.
The footage from this day was great “B-roll” to go along with the walkaround and it helped create the warm feeling you get when you are in the nursing home in Swords. CareChoice were able to send the new video to new families that were enquiring about the home during a period when no one could access the home
